Many Years Ago
I met a man who called himself
Swami Rama. "Grease all that
you do with love," he would say.
"Love is the most ancient traveler
in the universe." From the moment
I first met this Himalayan sage,
my life was never to be the same.
In the years with Swamiji, kirtan
filled our lives. The style of music,
the call-and-response chants,
somehow feels deeply familiar,
as whispers from somewhere
So now I share with you what has
been shared with me. It is my
prayer that we all awaken to our
hearts, and to the dreams we had
before we came into this lifetime.

During her teenage years, Ragani devoted herself to a regular practice of meditation, asana, and other yogic methods, which became her life's foundation. Over the next two decades, Ragani continued to deepen her practices under the guidance of Swami Rama. In addition, she graduated Phi Beta Kappa with the Scholar-Athlete award from Earlham College, and she completed a graduate degree in acupuncture therapy, and a doctorate in clinical health psychology.
She further studied classical Indian vocals under Laxmi Narayan Tiwari from Kanpur, India. A second-generation yoga practitioner, Ragani has had lifelong involvements in yoga, meditation, and complementary medicine, and she has lectured in the US and abroad on topics of yoga science and stress management. Ragani's deep love of yoga, mysticism, and meditation has led her to India's Himalayas, where she and her husband have traveled and studied with many known and unknown yoga masters.
